Event Postlogue
We had a wonderful first event with dozens of participants ranging
in age from 3 to 94 years old, who walked, rode and even pushed in a
wheelchair. Assemblies of God, Baptists, Catholics, Methodists and
others were represented in our walk. Six different individuals carried our cross at different time during the parade.
Cross Walk #1 Meditation
Our mediation for Cross Walk #1 follows:Let your countenance proclaim the excellence of Him who called us out of the darkness and into His light.

About Cross Walk #1
1died4all's first public event will be a Cross Walk in the Ashland NH July 4th Parade on Saturday, July 4th, 2009 (parade time is 10 AM). All christians are invited to join us. All christian churches are invited to join as co-sponsors of the event by calling Glen at 1.603.968.9036 or emailing glen@1died4all.org.
Click here to view our official press release.
Event Co-sponsors:
-
Praise Assembly of God, Tilton NH
The walk will be an official entry in the parade.
How It Will Look
To parade-watchers, the event will appear as follows:
-
All participants will be dressed simply in blue jeans, a plain white T-shirt (no messages at all - plain white) and walking shoes.
-
The group will be lead by one individual carrying a life-sized cross.
-
Approximately 10 feet behind the cross will be local clergy in a group.
-
Approximately 10 feet behind the clergy will be other christians who wish to show that they are following the Cross.
-
There will be no signs except to identify Cross Walk #1 as the event and 1died4all.org as the sponsor (which is customarily required by parade organizers).
-
No tracks or pamphlets will be given out.
-
This is a silent witness to the simple, yet profound fact of the Cross.
-
This event will not in any way, shape or form be about doctrine or denominational distinctions (which is not to say that doctrine is unimportant or that there are no distinctions); but only about the Cross and the participant's silent witness to being followers of Christ and that we are dependant upon His finished work upon the Cross.
For Those Who Cannot Physically Walk
We absolutely want as many people to participate as want to. Toward that end, we realize that some may not physically be able to walk in the parade. However, you can still join us by clicking here and printing out (preferably in color) at least two copies of the identifying 8 1/2" by 11" poster and taping it on the right and left windows of a following vehicle.
Note: You can also click here for a 24" x 36" version of the same poster.
Instructions for Event Day
-
All participants must be present at the start of the parade route (Ashland Fire Station) no later than 9:00 AM.
-
Clergy are asked to check in with Glen Smith (in person) no later than 8:45 AM.
-
Groups should have a representative check in with Glen Smith (in person or cell: 603.455.2468) no later than 8:45 AM with the number of participants in the group. If the group would like to have one of their members considered for carrying the cross, the representative checking in should give the name of their designated cross-bearer when they check in; and the designee will be asked to walk near the front of the "other christians". If a number of individuals are interested in carrying the Cross, we will arrange to take turns.
Stay tuned here for more information as it becomes available.
